Kamojima Onsen is a municipal public bath facility that offers an indoor bath, two open-air baths, a cold water bath, and a sauna. The open-air baths come in two varieties: a cypress wood bath and a stone bath. They are alternately open to men and women each week. The moutain views from the open-air baths provide bathers with a sense of peace and serenity.
This is a great onsen for pilgrims to relax before the difficult trails, known as “henro korogashi”, up to Temple 12 Shosanji (焼山寺). Pilgrims who wish to stay at Kamojima Onsen’s pilgrim housing may request it at the front desk.
