19/4/2019 Novel, spacious and clean.
The ladies from the Hananosato Michi no Eki info desk arranged for the hotel to pick me up. As I waited at road station, other Ohenro also arrived. After I had been there about three quarters of an hour a small sedan pulled up. The driver was a young man who spoke fairly good English and on the drive to the hotel we discussed which was worst, natto or vegemite.
The hotel turned out to be a converted school. It was a bit odd, it still looked institutional in many ways, with wide corridors and big windows, very unlike a hotel. But it was comfortable, I was able to have an early shower and get into my yukata, which meant that I could then do a big clothes wash in the laundry before tea time. Evening meal was a standard set of fish and vegetables/pickles with unlimited rice.
Because of its previous history the room I was given was an ex class room, so consequently huge, with large windows. It had tatami mat flooring so the bedding was normal Japanese style.
The hotel foyer had a large selection of local produce and a very comfy lounge area.
The next morning breakfast was again fish, this time with egg and salad. The hotel arranged a station wagon to take four of us back to the Michi no Eki to the start of the trail to Kakurinji, temple 20. They also provided a lunch of a rice ball and a mandarin, if my recollection is correct.
