Tsuyado are provided as a charity by temples, and should not just be seen as a free alternative to paid lodging. Please leave them as a last resort for pilgrims in trouble; you should not plan your itinerary around tsuyado stays. Read more about them here.
Donations-based pilgrim lodging managed and maintained by a temple down the street, Hosenji. This place is fully equipped with electrical outlets, a desk, a dining area, a toilet, and a space with tatami flooring and bedding.
Unfortunately it's not operational anymore. I walked up to temple to ask and they told me that they stopped the services. The toilets next to the building are still functioning. Updated in May 2023
This is a wonderful place to stay, fairly quiet, very comfortable. You need to get food before you get here. (There is a small grocery store about 2 km. before.) On arrival, go up to the temple and ask permission. A donation is welcome. There is a donation tin and a sign-in book (usually) on the table.
