Close to temple 5. We stayed here at the beginning and the end of our Henro journey. So well looked after. Fed well. Comfy futons. And kindness itself in the host. Fully recommend.

I reserved this accommodation through the Henro House web site. I started late in the day so was not able to get to Temple 5 before its closing time. However, this accommodation is right next to Temple 5, so I knew I could visit it early in the morning. This was also the very first time I had been in Japan anywhere outside Tokyo and was the beginning of much learning over the following weeks.
I had a bunk room in the house to myself, where I could relax and start to get my head around what I had let myself in for. On the table waiting for me was a pot of hot green tea and a snack to tide me over till tea time. I don't recall exactly what I had for the evening meal, it was a traditional meal of many small servings though. The meals are taken in a communal room with a low table and tatami mats. There were three other Ohenro sharing the room at meal times on the day I stayed. I do recall breakfast though. It was my fist encounter with the dreaded natto. In truth, it wasn't as bad as I had been lead to believe. For me, the worst part was the sticky stringiness, which threatened to gum up my beard.
Room: Western style bunk room, clean and airy. The western bed was comfortable (or I was exhausted).
Meals: Japanese style in traditional Japanese tatami room off a low table. Traditional seating (ie Seiza on thin mats)
Location: Very convenient for Jizoji (T5). If starting a pilgrimage later in the day, for instance if arriving in Tokushima from Osaka etc, this is an excellent objective for the first half day walking. Allowing an immediate visit to Jizoji the next day.
