Lodinging in a lovely private home for pilgrims. There is an onsen (hot spring) nearby for ¥700.
Misono san was the kindest, most outgoing and energetic spirit. She has a great heart and personality and her meals are nice. She offers so much to pilgrims just out of kindness: stories, drinks, nice things to taste. She took in so many pilgrims who couldn't find a place during Golden Week and putting them up on mattresses on the floor, at a friend's house or together in a room that we dubbed her "Henro Mama". Warmly recommended!
I feel like this is not the sort of place I can give a general rating - it's a matter of personality, this one. Depending on your level of energy and extroversion, this can probably either be a really fun place to stay or a bit overwhelming and chaotic. It might not be for everyone - but if it is for you, you will surely have a great time.
This is one of my favorite places to stay. (I've been here three times.) Misono-san is so warm and welcoming. I encourage you to have meals with her. They are inexpensive, delicious, and she is very comfortable preparing vegetarian dishes when asked.
Misono-san’s lodging is legendary among walking pilgrims. She speaks English, and many foreign pilgrims stay at her home as a welcome respite after a long, difficult walk along the Muroto cape coastal road. She is a ball of kindness and a shining example of osettai spirit. HIGHLY recommend a stay at Tabi no Yado Misono if you get the chance!
