General: A slightly better class of business hotel in north eastern Uwajima city. It is about a 10 minute walk to the railway station and there is a modest sized park across the road.
Rooms: The room I had was quite small as expected for a business hotel. A single bed, desk and chair pretty much filled up the space except for the genkan. There was a private bathroom with a small bath tub. There seemed to be a range of products from bath salts, toiletries etc. available, I assume for free, all on the ground floor. Extra pillows and blankets for the rooms were stored on a rack in the corridor outside, also self serve. NOTE; This hotel does seem to have rooms in a ladies only area. I never saw this feature anywhere else I have stayed, but it would give an extra layer of security to ladies concerned with unwanted attention. Top marks to the Oriental management for this.
Other: There is a combini on the ground floor. The hotel appeared to have a small number of bicycles for use/hire by the guests and a tea/coffee snacks area near reception. Also on the ground floor there were (what I assumed was) sample local produce for sale, juices and snacks. Mostly citrus based as fitting for Ehime.
---oooOOOooo---
I pick a slightly better hotel than the normal business hotels I have been staying in. I have a hot bath as soon as I arrive and laying on my bed to snooze for a while in the late afternoon.
There is a convenience store on the ground floor which can be reached directly from inside the hotel. On the ground floor by the lifts is a selection of coloured and perfumed crystals. A bath salts buffet, I don't know if they are complementary or if there is some payment arrangement. There is a table set up and decorated with about five or six glass containers with different selections in them. Near the bath salts is another table with slippers, soap and other various things which I didn’t look at very closely. I assume you collect up an amount of bath salts of which ever "flavour" you desire and any other items you need to take them back to your room for later use. I also noticed that on the second floor, where I am staying, one half of the rooms are in an area that has a sign “ladies only”. And it looks like they may have a small ladies only coffee bar in that area as well. Which is an interesting/clever thing to keep the pervy blokes away. Maybe it's a carry over from Japanese segregated train cars to keep the chikan at bay!
