Welcoming ryokan, over one hundred years old. We arrived at 12 noon, the rain was bucketing down and we were wet and cold. We ended up catching a bus as we were soaked through and not much fun. Apparently this ryokan used to serve meals, but not anymore. We are booked into a tavern around the corner for dinner. Great bath- large enough for us both. Washing free 300 yen for the dryer. Stay here if you can.
This is blissfully close to temple 40. A fine welcome. The building is a little tired but the rooms are clean and they offer yukata and tea in rooms. The bath is wonderful and there are laundry facilities. (Washing free but pay for drying). There is dining available but limited, however the town has eating establishments and shops nearby. For temple 40 convenience this is definitely the place to stay.
