(Shosanji)[/place/12-shosanji] is one of the hardest temples to reach on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. The walking trails leading up to it are winding, steep, and fluctuate greatly in elevation in certain sections. Shosanji's temple lodging thus provides an ideal location and a great environment for pilgrims to take a break and enjoy their many amenities, all while being accompanied by astonishing mountain views surrounding the temple. They provide dinner and breakfast options that are shojin ryori meals – a traditional dining style of Buddhist monks in Japan that is completely vegan.
