Uemura Ryokan (植村旅館) is a Japanese inn along the strenuous moutain routes that stretch from Temple 11 Fujiidera (藤井寺) and Temple 12 Shosanji (焼山寺). The inn provides homemade dinner and breakfast for their guests that aim to replenish their energy by incorporating fresh ingredients unique to the region. The rooms are spacious with large windows that offer a great view of the luscious scenery. It also provides plenty of amenities such as laundry facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for pilgrims.
Due to its convenient location, many pilgrims choose to stay overnight here after visiting Temple 12. The inn overlooks the beautiful valleys and creeks below Mt. Shosanji. Among the valleys lies Kamiyama Town (神山町), a small but modern village that pilgrims can visit by taking an alternative route from here on. While you are in the area, please try out the famous sudachi (すだち) fruit, one of the most well-known fruits in Shikoku. You will find plenty of sudachi trees in this region.
Spacious tatami room, nice atmosphere, very good meals
I had a wonderful experience staying at Uemura Ryokan. The tatami rooms were clean and mine had large windows directly facing a very relaxing rice paddy field. I slept very well after a full day of hiking and walking. Considering the quality and abundance of side dishes in the meals they served, the price for this place was very reasonable.
